Education

Tamirat A.Gebremariam studied at the school of fine art in Addi's ababa, Ethiopia, for 4 years, majoring in painting. Once completed in 1993, Tamirat then undertook digital art short courses in Sydney Australia 2001.

Tamirat has exhibited in various solo exhibitions and group shows in Ethiopia, Egypt and Australia. He also has further experience as an artist -in- in residence, art educator, exhibition organiser and African art curator.

Bio - Professional Experience

Between 1995 and 2000 Tamirat was fine art teacher and director of the joint ministry at St' Androus church, studio and gallery for the African art in Cairo. Many of the works reflect in his experience, notably the portrait of priests in traditional African robes whose piercing eyes seem at once to see right in to the heart and mind of the viewer, while at the same time expressing great love and understanding for our shortcomings.

Tamirat's work has grown out of a strong training in the classical traditions of painting, with an emphasis on drawing and painting the figure.

Tamirat is also an accomplished portrait painter how ever he is inceasingly exploring the emotional potential of abstraction.
